David's Sizzling at Little Taipei - Sunnybank

Coming back up to Brisbane, one of the first things that I did was to catch up with a few friends over lunch. Now, whilst living at home comes with its advantages, its not convenient to host friends for meals. As such, our friends always look for places where they can sit for a little longer after they finish their meal to chat. That is why Mr Burger Connoisseur decided he wanted to grab a meal at Little Taipei. Having just recently been to Ren Express, I found it a good opportunity to eat (and review) the infamous David's Sizzling Steak, which is probably the longest established store in the food court.

As is usual in Little Taipei, we ordered at the counter and were given a number. For each meal that we ordered, we were given a set of sides, consisting of two slices of garlic bread, sultana and cabbage salad and a bowl of corn soup. Before the change of management a couple years ago, I would have sworn that David's did the best garlic toast in Brisbane, being on thick cut toast. Nowdays its a lot smaller, being on more baguette like rolls, which meant a reduction in the quantity of fluffy interior, but at least they do manage to keep the delicious garlic taste. The corn soup is smooth and serves as a good appetiser, but my friends and I all agree that the salad is way too sugary than what we would have liked.

My companion ordered the garlic prawns meal, which I found to be a little bit of a waste considering that we went to a store that specialises in steak. Considering the price though, I found the number of prawns given to be quite generous. It was quite deliciously seasoned, and the herbs made all the difference.

On the other hand, I settled with the Wagyu set, with pepper sauce.

This was served in two cast iron plates instead of one, since the steak was so big it was unable to accommodate the portion of spaghetti as well. The steak was perfectly cooked and deliciously tender, but could have been a bit thicker. The pepper sauce was strong and spicy just the way I like it. The spaghetti, whilst store-bought, came with a delightful tomato-y sauce with meat chunks in it. The added egg, whilst simple, had a yummy crispy edge to the white, which was delightful as well.
